New WHO guidelines and policy brief on mental health at work published

WHO guidelines-2

The much anticipated WHO guidelines and policy brief on mental health at work have now been launched.

The World Health Organization (WHO) describes how to promote positive mental health and prevent mental health conditions in this set of global public health guidelines, which cover organisational interventions, worker and manager training and individual interventions.

Furthermore, these guidelines contain key recommendations on returning to work following mental health related absence, as well as gaining employment for those living with mental health conditions.

The establishment of these new WHO recommendations is expected to aid national and workplace-level initiatives in mental and occupational health care in policy development, service planning, and delivery.

The global guidelines, which provide much-needed evidence-based recommendations, look to be warmly welcomed by employers, stakeholders and those responsible for the health, safety and wellbeing of working people.
