Affinity Health at Work is a consultancy and research organisation, founded in 2006 to combine academic research with practical solutions for workplace health and wellbeing.
Led by Professor Jo Yarker and Dr Rachel Lewis, who also hold academic posts at Birkbeck, University of London, the team partners with clients to create evidence-based solutions that drive lasting change.
Our multi-award-winning work is supported by organisations such as the CIPD, Acas and the HSE, and public, private and third sector clients.
We bring together academic and practitioner insights to address underlying organisational challenges and improve engagement, health and wellbeing at work.
Affinity Health at Work is one of the few consultancies bridging the gap between academia and practice. Since 2019, we have expanded from research to delivering consultancy services that support all aspects of workplace wellbeing. Our work spans the consultancy cycle—advisory, diagnostics, design, implementation and evaluation—with clients such as the Ministry of Justice, NHS Trusts, Asahi Europe and UK universities.
We focus on three key areas:
Creating knowledge – We conduct academic-standard research to remain at the cutting-edge of our field. We have published peer-reviewed papers and guidance reports for bodies and policy makers including International SOS Foundation, WHO, HSE, CIPD, Acas and the NHS.
Developing solutions – Our consultancy is informed by the latest policy and legislation, is evidence-based, and is tailored to our clients’ needs, for example:
- Working Well Stress risk assessments
- Working Well wellbeing maturity assessments
- Return to work assessments
- Wellbeing champions CPD programmes
- Absence Management reviews
- Policy reviews
- Employee forum programmes
- Stress management programmes for employees
- Stress management programmes for managers
- Wellbeing coaching
- Tailored wellbeing consultancy
- Bespoke training and development
Sharing insights – We believe that only by sharing knowledge can we enable tangible change. We make our research freely available, for example by publishing our research outputs free-to-access through our website and institutional partners. We run a longstanding research consortium, and regularly present at professional and academic events.
