Energy firm OVO has been awarded the Menopause Friendly Accreditation, highlighting its commitment to supporting team members experiencing perimenopause and menopause. This significant recognition comes after a thorough assessment by the independent Menopause Friendly panel, which evaluated the company’s efforts in five critical areas: culture, training, policies, engagement, and working environment.

As the only accreditation of its kind, developed by Henpicked: Menopause in the Workplace, it sets clear, industry-recognised standards. It is regarded as a mark of excellence for employers dedicated to fostering a menopause-friendly environment.

Key aspects of OVO’s approach include:

  • Training 30 Menopause Champions across various departments to provide ongoing support to colleagues.
  • Offering breathable, A+ rated uniforms and period packs for field staff, along with free leggings and underwear for office-based employees.
  • Establishing a peer support group, which has earned OVO a finalist nomination for the Best Peer-to-Peer Support Group at the Menopause Friendly Employer Awards 2024.

Kirsteen Sommerville, Menopause Lead at OVO, expressed her pride in the company’s achievement:
“At OVO, we believe in fostering an inclusive culture where everyone feels heard and valued. We know that a happy and supported workforce is essential for success, and we’ve worked hard to create an environment where people can thrive, even during challenging times like menopause. Achieving the Menopause Friendly Accreditation is a true honour, and it’s fantastic to see organisations being celebrated for making a positive difference.”

OVO’s continued focus on employee wellbeing, particularly in the context of menopause, demonstrates its dedication to creating a supportive and inclusive workplace for all.
