WHO Guidelines on Mental Health at Work

The much anticipated WHO guidelines and policy brief on mental health at work have now been published.

In these guidelines the World Health Organization describes how to promote positive mental health and prevent mental health conditions, covering organisational interventions, worker and manager training and individual interventions.

The guidelines also contain key recommendations on returning to work following mental health related absence, as well as gaining employment for those living with mental health conditions.

The establishment of these new WHO recommendations is expected to aid national and workplace-level initiatives in mental and occupational health care in policy development, service planning, and delivery.
